100% Pure Truffles

It is an unfortunate fact that most truffle “flavored” products are missing their truffles. Man-made flavorings which are “nature identical” (chemically equivalent) to some of the compounds found in real truffles have sadly become the norm in products that promote truffles on their labels. Legally, manufacturers can get by listing these ingredients as “truffle aroma” or “truffle flavor” (as technically they do occur in truffles) even though the ingredients are not derived from truffles at all!

We think this stinks. Both figuratively – as consumers are being led to believe they are investing in real truffles when they are not – and literally: synthetic truffle aromas contain just a few of the dozens of known (and as yet countless unknown) aromatic compounds that give truffles their seductive power. Products made with synthetic truffle aroma lack the top-notes, the complexity, the finesse that make for a truly ecstatic truffle experience. True connoisseurs of the melanosporum black truffle and cognoscenti of the white magnatum pico know there is no comparison – in fact there is barely a resemblance.

At Vervacious we won’t use synthetic truffle aroma or flavor – ever. The only truffle experience we’re willing to share with our customers is a truthful one.

Only the Best Truffles

Truffles are everywhere. From the sub-arctic tundra to the equatorial desert, species of truffles have managed to survive and thrive. But of the hundreds of species of black and white truffles, only two stand out among the very rarest, most exquisite ingredients on the planet: the black Périgord winter truffle – T. melanosporum – and the prized white truffle of Alba – T. magnatum pico. Lesser species can be had at a tiny fraction of the price but why bother?

At Vervacious we insist on using only melanosporum black and magnatum pico white truffles in our truffle-rich products. And we use as much as we can spare to give our customers a meaningful, memorable truffle experience they will hopefully want to relive with us again and again.
