Russell - our Ship's Cat, affectionately known as Bou-bou, by nearly
everyone...
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of our beloved ship's cat, Bou-bou. He was diagnosed with chronic
renal failure (CRF), a degenerative kidney disease which commonly affects
spayed male cats and has no known cure. How many cats do you know who have crossed an ocean? He
religiously took up his watch at sunset, atop the dodger where he could review all the
goings on, in the harbor and in the heavens. After a year on-board, he
accrued over 7000 nautical miles offshore, and enough sea-worthiness to appear on deck for his
morning watch without any coaxing at all in 25-30 knots. He was a
valiant little sailor and Red Sox fan and will be missed very much.
