Yet Another Blog My apologies to those who hate "Christmas Letters" as much as I do - and double apologies to my friends who send them. You're familiar with the format no doubt: "Greetings from the Wanker family! Boy what a year - what with BOB'S PROMOTION at the box plant and..." (David Sedaris is pitch perfect in his imitation of a family letter in his collection "Holidays On Ice.") So I apologize because the "Captain's Blog" is nothing more than a Christmas letter - except, unlike Christmas, the Captain's Blog doesn't only come once a year. Sorry. Luckily, being web-based, you get to decide if and when you're interested. Updates will be sporadic, topics will vary depending on our locale and what's been occupying our time. There will be no politicking and no obscenity. Probably no humor or useful/interesting information either - for that I also apologize in advance. Finally, my use of the term "blog" (web log) isn't strictly correct. Blogs are loosely defined by www.marketingterms.com as: ...a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site... Whereas I will have little or no web access and so will have nothing to report on web goings on. But Captain's Blog sounded clever so there you go. To anyone offended by my corruption of the term I can only recommend you go outside and get some sun for a change. Onward... |
